Open institutions are not created by chance – they are built through partnerships, knowledge and genuine commitment. That is why every meeting that opens space for the exchange of ideas represents another step towards more efficient institutions and better services for citizens.

The Director of the Agency for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, Petar Gajdov, held a working meeting with representatives of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), dedicated to advancing transparency, accountability and the practical implementation of the right to free access to information at the local level.

The meeting was attended by David Sip, Project Team Leader, and Ana Angelovska, Senior Program Manager, who, together with Director Gajdov, discussed opportunities for deepening cooperation and implementing joint initiatives that will contribute to more open and efficient local self-government units in the exercise of the right to free access to public information. The meeting also provided an excellent opportunity for Rebecca Besserman and Sidharth Dasari, students from the University of Texas, who accompanied the NDI representatives, to gain new experience.

The meeting enabled an exchange of ideas and experiences regarding future joint activities aimed at strengthening transparency and good governance. The participants discussed deepening cooperation with municipalities, strengthening the capacities of information officers through training and mentoring support, as well as developing modern digital solutions that will enable more open institutions and higher-quality services for citizens.

Director Gajdov emphasized that transparency is the foundation of trust and a prerequisite for good governance, stressing that through cooperation, knowledge sharing and joint initiatives, it is possible to create more open institutions that will respond to the needs of citizens in a timely, efficient and responsible manner.

The Agency expresses its sincere gratitude to the NDI team for the constructive meeting, the exchange of experiences and their readiness for further cooperation. We believe that partnerships such as these create lasting value, encourage innovation and contribute to greater transparency, accountability and trust in institutions.

Together, we continue to build a culture of openness, accountability and transparency.
