PETAR GAJDOV

Petar Gajdov was born in Skopje.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

He passed the Bar Exam in 2003 and the Notary Exam in 2013.

During his professional career as a law graduate, he worked as a trainee lawyer in a law office, and subsequently at the Basic Court Skopje 2 – Skopje (now the Civil Court Skopje). He continued his professional experience at the Court of Appeal – Skopje, as well as at the Municipality of Aerodrom. In 2021, he joined the Agency for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information as Assistant Head of the Department for Administrative-Legal and General Affairs.

In 2023, he was promoted to State Advisor for Cooperation with Information Holders, International Cooperation and Projects, and in 2025 to State Advisor for Legal Affairs. From this position, on 8 April 2026, he was appointed a Director of the Agency for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information by the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.

During his career at the Agency, he has developed numerous organizational skills and competencies, including conducting trainings and lectures in the field of the protection of the right to free access to public information, as well as providing advisory services, consultations, and expert assistance to both applicants requesting public information and officials responsible for mediating access to public information within institutions—holders of public information.

Moreover, Gajdov is a lecturer at the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors Pavel Shatev in Skopje, in the field of free access to public information. He is an expert in the area of exceptions to free access to public information and the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Access to Official Documents (Tromsø Convention), for which he conducted a comparative analysis between the Convention’s provisions and the provisions of the Law on Free Access to Public Information.

As part of his professional activities, Petar Gajdov served as an official for mediating access to public information within the Agency, as well as a legal assistance officer for both holders and applicants of public information. Based on his professional and ethical qualities, as a person of integrity and commitment to lawful conduct in the organization and implementation of work processes, he was appointed as a person responsible for integrity and an internal reporting officer. Petar Gajdov has also been a regular trainer for officials responsible for mediating access to public information, as well as a participant in several working groups for drafting amendments to laws and national strategies.
