TWO-DAY TRAINING ON “INCREASING ENVIRONMENTAL TRANSPARENCY TO ADVANCE ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE”

In cooperation with UNDP and Archurs Center Skopje, the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information held a two-day training on the topic “Increasing environmental transparency for the advancement of environmental justice” on May 20 and 21, 2024, at the Montana Hotel Palace”, Krushevo.

The training was carried out within the “Advancement of Environmental Justice in North Macedonia” project, financed by the Global Program of UNDP.

The training was attended by representatives from the municipalities of Krushevo, Veles, Demir Hisar, Prilep, Tetovo, Bitola and Struga, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance and the State Inspectorate for the Environment.

Maja Markovska, Executive Director and Alexandra Karakashova-Sachkarska from Arhurs Center – Skopje participated with their presentations, while the Agency’s representatives Cvetan Stanoeski, Head of Department for Administrative Procedure and Petar Gajdov, State Counselor, held the training. Special emphasis was put on proactive transparency concerning free access to public information. After the presentations, a discussion developed through which experiences and examples of positive practice were exchanged to increase environmental transparency and advance environmental justice – both at the local and central levels.
