TRAINING FOR OFFICIALS WITH HOLDERS OF PUBLIC INFORMATION

The Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information continues the training for officials with holders of public information. The training on the topic “Free access to public information and practical application of the Law on free access to public information” was held on October 19, 2023, in the premises of the Agency, and it was attended by officials from the state administration bodies, local self-government units, and health and educational institutions.

A team of trainers from the Agency carried out the training. Its purpose was to raise public awareness and the degree of familiarity of the holders of information with the Law on Free Access to Public Information and their obligations arising from it, with a particular accent on how to exercise the right to access public information.

The officials were familiarised with the history of the development of the right to free access to information and with the legal legislation, the meaning of proactive transparency of the holders of information, as well as with the portals and their application in the work of the persons in charge of mediating public information. To this end, the procedure for requests for public information, the appeal and misdemeanour procedure, and the legal obligation of the holders to prepare their annual reports were explained in detail.
