TRAINING FOR OFFICIAL PERSONS WITH HOLDERS OF PUBLIC INFORMATION
The Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information held a training session for official persons at the inspection services as holders of public information. The training on “Free Access to Public Information and Practical Application of the Law on Free Access to Public Information” resulted from the regular monthly coordination with state inspectorates in the Inspection Council, during which the holders were familiarised with last year’s Report on the Transparency of Inspection Services which the Agency prepared for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information.
A team of trainers from the Agency carried out the training. Its purpose was to raise public awareness and the degree of familiarity of the holders of information with the Law on Free Access to Public Information, as well as the obligations arising from it for them, with a review of how to exercise the right to access public information.
Particular emphasis was placed on the need for proactive publication of the information created and available by these institutions. By strengthening active transparency, citizens are regularly informed about the work of the institutions and the work of the officials themselves is made more accessible. At the same time, the need for inclusiveness of websites was emphasised so that no citizen is deprived of the right to be informed.
At the training, the procedure for requests for public information, the appeal and misdemeanour procedure, familiarisation with the portals and their application in the work of the persons in charge of mediating the public information were explained to the attendees, as well as the legal obligation of the holders to prepare their annual reports.
We would hereby like to invite all officials with information holders to register to attend the training at the following e-mail address: obuki@aspi.mk.
