In that direction, director Bojcheva emphasized: “The right of the public to know is part of the corpus of fundamental human rights in the modern world. This right is unthinkable without free access to information, one of the key pillars on which modern democracies are founded. It enables timely and complete information for citizens, which is necessary to participate in public life effectively. As a key guarantor of transparency, the public’s right to know is also the greatest bulwark of defence against corruption. Corrupt practice and abuse of public resources show that these negative phenomena are predominantly developed secretly, where public information is unavailable and public control is impossible.”
