THE AGENCY FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE RIGHT OF FREE ACCESS TO PUBLIC INFORMATION APPLIED TO BE A FULL MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF INFORMATION COMMISSIONERS (ICIC)
The Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information applied for full membership in the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC).
The ICIC Presidency and Secretariat, chaired by Mexico’s National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI), informed the Agency of the conclusion of the ICIC Executive Committee that the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Information of Public Character meets all eligibility criteria under the ICIC Charter. Consequently, it has been successfully accredited as a new ICIC member.
By doing so, the Agency becomes part of the International Conference of Information Commissioners, whose vision is to be a global forum that connects Information Commissioners and members responsible for the protection and promotion of laws on access to information in order to improve transparency and accountability in favour to all. Its mission is to share knowledge and best practices, build capacity, help identify what is needed for global progress, and act as a collective voice in international forums, all with the goal of improving citizens’ right to access public information.
