Representatives of the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information participated in the bilateral screening for the Public Administration Reform, Chapter 32 – Financial Control and Functioning of Democratic Institutions, Cluster: Fundamental Values.
Tanja Kovachev, the Agency’s General Secretary, took part in the bilateral screening with the European Commission on Public Administration Reform and Chapter 32 – Financial Control.
The key institutions that have a role in the screening process were also present at this bilateral meeting.
The fact that this is the first time a bilateral screening for public administration reform has been presented indicates the importance of the subject. Moreover, this reform is one of the top priorities, forms a major part of the Copenhagen criteria, and is paramount to the European integration process of the Republic of North Macedonia.
Therefore, constant attention must be paid to the modernization and reform of the state and public administration, which are considered to be the foundation of the entire public sector on which the processes and development of a democratic society depend.
Petar Gajdov, the Agency’s Deputy Head of the Sector for Administrative, Legal, and General Affairs, also gave a presentation at the screening within the Cluster: Fundamental Values, which area is presented for the first time with the new revised negotiations methodology. Mr. Gajdov’s presentation garnered quite favourable feedback.
Ultimately, building a democratic society inspired by European values remains a top priority of the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information. To this end, the Agency remains committed to promoting increased institutional openness, accountability, and transparency.
