ONLINE DEBATE ON THE ONE-YEAR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAW ON FREE ACCESS TO PUBLIC INFORMATION
On December 1, 2020, the Center for Civic Communications hosted an online debate to discuss how to implement the new Law on Free Access to Public Information. The debate took place on the exact day that marked one year since the 2019 Law went into effect.
Thirty-four people, including representatives from the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, civil society organizations, state institution representatives, and journalists, attended the debate.
The Agency’s director, Ms. Plamenka Bojcheva, also gave a presentation to introduce the participants to the Agency’s experience gained from implementing the new Law over the past year.
Through analysis and discussion, the debate aimed to share early impressions of the Law’s implementation, drawing attention to some inconsistencies that have emerged after a year of implementation of the new legal solution and yielding suggestions for the further development of this legal right.
